The lifeless body of the ambassador conveyed to Russia

The body of the deceased Russian ambassador, who was killed by a Turkish policeman in Ankara a few days ago, returned to his home in Russia.

Andrei Karlov was shot dead by 22-year-old Mert Mevlut Altintas, with 9 bullets in the back while giving a speech on Monday in protest at Russia's involvement in Aleppo.

Tuesday evening, the coffin of Karlovy passed through the airport runway "Esenboga", covered by a Russian flag. He was accompanied to the plane sent from Moscow by a body composed of 6 Guard Turkish soldiers.

A brief ceremony attended by leading diplomats in Ankara and the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Tugrul Turkes, was held before Karlovy leave Turkey for the last time.

In scenes almost unusual for a Muslim country like Turkey, a Russian Orthodox priest made last on  prayers, while a Turkish soldier stood holding portraits of the slain diplomat, as the latter's wife Marina was overcome with weeping.

The wife was present when Altintas opened fire on her husband, who took office diplomat in Ankara in 2013. So far it is not known if the gunman, a member of Turkey's special forces who was dead after the event , related to any group.

However, Russia and Turkey issued a joint stance on killing TJI, calling it "a provocative act", while Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was "obviously with intent to destroy normalization" of bilateral relations and "process peace in Syria ".

Putin and Erdogan have committed to work together to find out who was behind the assassination of Karlovy Vary, and for that, Russian investigators arrived in Turkey on Tuesday.
