Indonesia ferry catches fire. At least 23 victims



At least 23 people have died and 17 others are still considered missing after a ferry caught fire off the coast of Indonesia. Zahro ferry Express, was carrying more than 230 passengers to tidung island, a resort about 50 km from the capital Jakarta.

Officials said the ferry caught fire around 1.5 km away angka Muara Port in Jakarta, shortly after starting the journey. According to reports, many of the passengers were thrown into the sea. 194 people, according to officials rescued and nine are being treated in hospital. According to reports, the ferry was traveling towards Tidungut Indonesians, which is part of the chain of islands Thausand, to celebrate the new year.

An official said the ferry was carrying twice the number of people allowed. Ferries are a lot of used form of transportation in Indonesia, a country that consists of thousands of islands. But safety standards are incomplete and often  ferries.
