The 44-year-old felt his side should have been more ruthless in front of goal but was otherwise impressed with their performance
Paulo Bento believes Portugal deserved more from their 1-1 friendly draw against Netherlands on Wednesday.Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman gifted Holland the lead in the opening 45 minutes before Cristiano Ronaldo levelled the scoring late in the second half.
"From the way we played in the second half, the result is unfair because we created so many chances," Bento told RTP.
"I am very pleased with the team's display and the continuity of the work done during the previous season.
"In the first half we came under pressure, but we tried to react and bounced back."
Despite Bento's disappointment, it turned out to be a fruitful evening for Portugal as Northern Ireland beat World Cup qualification rivals Russia 1-0, leaving Bento's men two points clear at the top of Group F, with Russia having a game in hand.
