The Portugual centre-back reveals that he is
discussing his future at the Santiago Bernabeu with club president
Florentino Perez, but stressed he is happy to fulfill his contract
Pepe has not dismissed the possibility of leaving Real Madrid, stating that he is currently in talks with the club's hierarchy. The Portugal international joined los Blancos from Porto in 2007 but has been subject to rumoured interest from the likes of Manchester City this summer.
Meeting the press after his side's 2-1 International Champions Cup win over Everton, the 30-year-old defender spoke extremely briefly about the prospect of his departure from the Santiago Bernabeu.
"I'm a professional," he told journalists in Los Angeles. "They left a lot of things at the end of last season but I have a contract to fulfill.
"I'm talking to the president of Madrid [Florentino Perez] and my representatives to see what will happen."
Pepe, who has won two La Liga titles and a Copa del Rey whilst with los Merengues, stressed his love for the club and fans but did not go as far as guaranteeing his stay in the Spanish capital.
"I have a contract, I love the club and I have great affection for the people," he said simply when asked whether he was intent on remaining at Madrid.
