Philippines, Typhoon Nock-Ten addresses capital

Powerful Typhoon Nock-Ten is tough hits Philippines, while very sophisticated, directed area around the capital Manila. Civil Protection in the country is red alert after the storm expected to descend on the capital late Monday.

Forecasters say the storm is weakening power since arriving in the country's eastern coast on Sunday, but still has winds speed 140km . So far, the storm has cost the lives of at least 3 people and caused considerable material damage.

Authorities in Manila warned the population that storm, but winds will also bring intense rainfall and flooding. Government officials said that they have taken all measures to face the fury of nature, but typhoons in the past have shown that they have never been up to the mark. Thousands of people were ordered to leave their homes and many are housed in emergency centers. But authorities fear that many Filipinos can ignore evacuation orders to stay at home with their families for Christmas, the biggest day of the holiday in this predominantly Catholic country.

It is expected that up to 1 million people to turn to emergency centers in the next 24 hours, while it is clear that there are those who can not afford even half of such a figure.
