Rocked Chile earthquake 7.6 on the Richter scale


A powerful earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale shook southern Chile on Thursday night prompting thousands of people to evacuate their homes.

The depth of the quake was about 34.6 km underground and his shock was felt as far southwestern Argentine city of Bariloche. But it was the announcement tsunami that situation even more alarmed, but later authorities said there is no room for panic after the tsunami posed a threat not.

The earthquake fortunately caused no casualties, but significant material damage. National Emergency Office of Chile brought the announcement that 5,000 people who were evacuated earlier, can now return to their homes.

But about 21 thousand homes have been left without electricity.
