The tragedy of Aleppo, the largest of modern times

Aleppo will enter the global shame dictionary. According to the "Wall Street Journal" once flourishing Syrian city and its population is transformed into a massive ruin.

Analysts say the conflict in the city between government forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad that the Russian air support, and opposition fighters entered its final stage.

For many, the horror of daily life in Aleppo is unimaginable. But for others there is a terrible sense of "deja-vu" -JE. 20 years ago, the Balkan countries have just begun thinking about recovery after completing one of the most brutal conflicts in European history.

The years '92 -'95 siege of Sarajevo was an event that can not be erased from people's minds. During the conflict in Bosnia, Serb forces were deployed in the hills around Sarajevo and firing on soldiers and civilians stranded. 11 thousand people lost their lives. The siege lasted 1,400 days and rainy war from 1992 to 1995-n.

People living in Sarajevo today require capitals around the world to show solidarity with the people of Aleppo. Residents of the Bosnian capital, most of whom survived the longest siege in modern European history, is also urging world powers to stop the massacres in Syria.

Committee "International Red Cross" has described the fighting in Syria, as one of the most destructive conflicts in modern times. "The human cost in Aleppo is terribly high. We urge all parties to stop the destruction, attacks and killings ".

According to the center for the documentation of violations in Syria, between 19 July 2012 and 15 December 2016 marked 31 010 victims, of whom 22 633 men; 2849 women; 3773 boys; 1,775 girls. All this in 4 years of fighting. 76 per cent of victims are civilians and 24 percent military.

Even these figures remain approximate, because a correct balance can not talk yet. However in April, special envoy of the United Nations on Syria, Sefa de Mistura estimated the at least 400 thousand people had been killed in Syria since the start of the conflict in 2011.
