Afghanistan, killed 5 women officers of the security forces
Five female officers of the Afghan security forces have been killed while riding to work in the city of Kandahar Airfield.
Officers, who had the task of controlling female passenger and the driver of the van that was carrying died after two gunmen aboard two motorcycles opened fire on them.
So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. Afghan women often become targets of the Taliban, but a spokesman for the militant group denied any involvement in the attack.
Ahmadullah Faizi, director of the airport, said the officers were concerned for their safety after receiving death threats from people who do not approve of their chosen career.
The official also said that an investigation is underway, but still there has been no arrest.
According to the office of the Afghan attorney general, in the first 8 months of 2016 they registered 3,700 cases of violence against women, while a year ago 5 thousand.
