Antonio Guterres, the new chief of the UN
January 1 is the first day in the office of the Secretary General of the United Nations for the Portuguese Antonio Guterres, who replaces in this post, Ban Ki Moon.

Tomorrow at midnight, everything will change," he joked. As secretary general of eight United Nations, Ban Ki Moon's term began on January 1, 2007 and lasted until December 31, 2016.
